What is Camp Kaio?
Camp Kaio aims to achieve two purposes, to spend time in personal study and meditation on God's word, to strengthen our personal relationship with our Creator, "that he may incline our hearts unto him", and also to provide time for those of like precious faith to share company and strengthen Godly friendships.
We all love to go to Bible study weekends and be fed from God’s Word, but in our very busy ecclesial and family lives it can be hard sometimes to make dedicated time for the personal study of God’s Word; to have His word in our heart “as a burning fire”. Yet we know, it is God's words that give us life and hope, strength and guidance on our journey to God’s kingdom. And it is a personal relationship with our God that we are striving to build!
Kaio (kah’-yo) a Greek word meaning “to set on fire; to burn.”
“…let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning.” Luke 12:35
“…did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the Scriptures?” Luke 24:32
How did it all begin?
Camp Kaio started as a vacation strategy in 2006 by two Canadian families in which they encouraged each other to an intense schedule of immersion in both personal Bible study and family time. The improved relationship with God, between spouses, friends, children and parents, was so evident, it changed the way the families viewed holiday and became a regular event.
Subsequently Larger Camp Kaio events were organised in order to expose other individuals and families to the concept and ultimately encourage them to organise their own Camp Kaio time with friends or another couple or family.
